The competitive package we created for Sofitel London St James showcases our expertise and understanding of the Hospitality and Leisure sector, and our strong track record of funding successful hotel businesses.
Paul Smith, Corporate Development Director, Barclays, Scotland
We are delighted to support the hotel in its current and future growth aspirations, putting in place facilities that offer the flexibility required.
Yasmin Nabi, Director, Debt Finance, Barclays, Scotland
Sofitel London St James is a 5-star hotel located in the heart of London. Thanks to a £45m funding package from Barclays’ Corporate Banking team in Scotland, the hotel will be able to renovate its luxury guest suites.
The neoclassical, grade II-listed building will undergo an upgrade of its 183 rooms, which have been designed by renowned French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon and his company PYR-Design.
The deal follows St Andrew Square Hotel Limited, owned by St James Hotel Limited, securing a £5m term loan from Barclays in 2015 to support future growth. It’s the latest in several deals which have seen Barclays provide support to the hospitality and leisure sector to fund growth.
Barclays will also deliver day-to-day banking and credit card facilities for the business.
