Smart Card Activation

It is the responsibility of the nominated System Administrator to ensure that all smart cards (received by your Security Contact) are activated.

To activate your System Administrator card you will need to call the dedicated helpdesk on 0845 600 8818* (outside the UK +44 160 684 4707).

Windows Users

Once your card has been activated and inserted into the reader for the first time, Windows users will be prompted to change their Temporary PIN. For all PIN Pad users, your new PIN can be made up of between 6-8 numbers.

If the ‘Change PIN’ box does not automatically appear or you wish to subsequently change your PIN, select the Classic Client Toolbox via <Start> All Programs/Gemalto/Classic Client/Classic Client Toolbox and selecting Card Administration/PIN management – Next, or for pre eSigner 4 versions via <Start> All Programs/Gemalto/GemSafe Toolbox and selecting Card Administration/PIN Management-Next.

Please take care when changing your Temporary PIN and if you need to re-launch the PIN Change screen, either take the smart card out of the reader and re-insert it, or follow the instructions above.

You can now log on to Business Internet Banking – from the Barclays Internet Treasurer page, select ‘log in’.

Mac Users

Once your card has been activated and inserted into the reader for the first time, you will need to change your Temporary PIN. For all PIN Pad users, your new PIN can be made up of between 6-8 numbers. 

To change your Temporary PIN select Applications/Gemalto/Classic Client Pin Management/Change Secret Code and follow the on screen instructions.

Please take care when changing your Temporary PIN and if you need to re-launch the Change Secret Code screen follow the instructions above.

You can now log on to Business Internet Banking – from the Barclays Internet Treasurer page, select ‘log in’. Please remember to use the 32 BIT version of the Safari browser.
