Signing Software Installation

About eSigner for Windows

WebSigner is the digital signing software Barclays uses with our Smart Cards.

Please refer to Digital Channels Hardware and Software Requirements. If you are using an alternative product please contact the Client Service team for details of the supported Operating Systems and Browsers.

The installation routine will automatically install the correct versions of the software in the locations appropriate to your Operating System.

Installing the Software

Software must be installed by a user with Administrative rights to your machine. Contact your IT department or provider if required.

Previously installed version of WebSigner

The installation process will search for any existing copies of Classic Client or WebSigner and if present, will uninstall them. When prompted to reboot, please ensure you do so when necessary.

Downloading and Extracting the software

  • On the machine in question, within Windows Explorer, create the directory C:\Temp\Gemalto
  • Then download the Gemalto source files from the relevant download link
  • Click Save 
  • When prompted browse to C:\Temp\Gemalto and click Save 
  • Once the zip file has downloaded, click Open folder and extract the source files to this location

How to install the software

  • Right-click on “Setup.exe” and select run as Administrator 
  • If this option is not available, double click “Setup.exe” (Please Note: “Setup.exe” must be used when installing the application. Using the MSI files individually will mean that certain components will not be installed correctly.) 
  • At the initial Install Information screen click “Yes”
  • At the next Information screen, click “OK”
  • At the Classic Client Install Wizard Welcome Screen, click “Next”
  • At the License Agreement Screen, select “I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement” and then click “Next”.
  • At the Destination Folder Screen, Click “Next”, to install Classic Client to the default location 
  • At the Setup Type Screen, select “Complete” and then click “Next”
  • At the Ready to Install Screen Program, click “Install”
  • Classic Client will now install
  • At the Install Wizard Completion Screen, click “Finish”
  • At the WebSigner Install Wizard Welcome Screen, click “Next”
  • At the License Agreement Screen, select “I accept the terms of the Licence Agreement” and then click “Next”.
  • At the Destination Folder Screen, Click “Next“, to install the eSigner to the default location. 
  • At the Ready to Install Screen Program, click “Install”
  • WebSigner will now install
  • At the Install Wizard Completion Screen, click “Finish”
  • At the Trusted Sites URLs prompt, click “Yes”
  • At the Windows Restart Prompt, click “Yes”

Trusted Sites

If you have restrictions that prevent you from adding Trusted Sites to Internet Explorer, please contact your IT department/provider and ask them to add the following websites:
