Head of Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI)

Philip Bowkley

Philip has global accountability for Corporate Banking client coverage of insurance, specialty finance, funds, asset managers and FinTech companies. 

The NBFI coverage team has presence in the US, UK, Asia, Western Europe and the Middle East, and provides an extensive range of banking solutions including cash management, trade finance, liquidity, debt and FX.

Head of Social Housing

David Cassidy

David leads our Social Housing team in maintaining and developing strong links with all of the key stakeholders in this sector. Having joined Barclays in 1982 he has worked closely with Corporate clients in relationship management, debt structuring and leadership roles. This included six years up to 2009 as a Director in the Social Housing team. Most recently David has led a team in our Business Support division.

Head of Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics

Lee Collinson

An experienced banking professional who joined Barclays in 1988 undertaking a number of roles across client coverage, debt finance and credit. Currently responsible for all Barclays UK clients in the Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics sectors.

Head of Technology, Media and Telecoms

Sean Duffy

Sean has been at Barclays for more than 10 years and has spent most of his time in Corporate Banking. He leads the Technology, Media and Telecoms team for Barclays.

Sean graduated with a first class Honours degree in Physics and a PhD in Mathematical Physics. On leaving academia he trained as an actuary before moving across to banking. Sean held a number of strategic and operational roles before he moved into corporate banking over 10 years ago.

Head of Business and Professional Services

James Morris

James has worked at Barclays for over 21 years, starting his career on the graduate programme in 1999.  He has undertaken a number of leadership roles across Corporate and Investment Banking, most recently, Managing Director, Head of UK Insurance & Captive Banking within the Financial Institutions Group.  James was appointed as National Head of Business & Professionals Services in January 2021 with responsibility for the national proposition in the UK. 

James takes a lead role in the Diversity and Inclusion Council where he has been externally recognised and named among the “50 Leading Lights in the UK”.

Head of Healthcare

Steve Fergus

Steve joined Barclays in 2019 and was appointed Head of Healthcare in 2020. With over 15 years experience within Corporate Banking, he has undertaken roles ranging from leverage finance to client coverage with his focus being purely on Healthcare over the past 6 years. The Barclays Healthcare team supports a wide-ranging client base with their dedicated specialist approach, industry knowledge, and sector-specific products and services.

UK Head of Retail, Wholesale and Healthcare

Karen Johnson

Karen joined Barclays in 2015 to lead the large corporate team in the North West. Karen has over 25 years banking experience working with owner managed businesses through to large corporates.  She has worked in a senior capacity in a variety of roles across the bank and was appointed as Co-Chair of the Corporate Banking D&I Council in 2018.

Key campaigns during the last 2 years include the Women in Business Awards and launching the ‘This is Me’ North West to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of mental health. In 2018 Karen won the Business Impact Champion Award for work in the mental health arena for This is Me in the North West and is now looking at growing awareness across the UK.

Head of Government and Local Authorities

Fraser MacKay

In his current role as Head of Public Sector, Fraser leads the Relationship Teams around the UK that support clients across the Education, Charity, Social Housing and Local Authority Sectors. The team consists of 30 Relationship Directors, Associate Directors and Relationship Support Managers located across the UK.

In addition, Fraser operates as Sector Head for the Local Authority Sector across Barclays Corporate Banking.

Head of Education

Richard Robinson

Richard has been in his current role since 2016 having worked in the sector for nearly ten years. Richard is also a former college Vice-Chair and Governor of a further education college. Richard has over 15 years’ experience in Corporate Banking.

Head of Hospitality and Leisure

Mike Saul

Mike is head of the Barclays UK-based Hospitality and Leisure Team. With over 30 years of experience, he and his team support a wide-ranging client base with their dedicated specialist approach, industry knowledge, and sector-specific products and services.

Head of Agriculture

Mark Suthern

Mark has worked for Barclays for 29 years. As Head of Agriculture he leads the Agriculture team of 200 based across the UK. Our Agricultural Managers work closely with local agricultural businesses to help them to thrive.

Head of UK Real Estate

Dennis Watson

Dennis is a Managing Director in Barclays Corporate Banking and is the Head of Real Estate. His career with Barclays spans over 30 years during which time he has undertaken a variety of roles in both the Retail and Corporate businesses. He has been responsible for Corporate Banking’s Real Estate lending activity since 2006 and the 150 strong team now covers all of the Bank’s Real Estate clients in the UK from the SME sector through to the listed house builders and REITS, providing financing lines in excess of £10bn.

 In recent years Dennis has also had responsibility for the Infrastructure & Project Finance, Social Housing and Asset Finance teams as well as being Chairman of Barclays Mercantile Business Finance and Barclays Funds Investments Limited.

Head of Charities

Nazreen Visram

Nazreen joined Barclays in 2005 as a Relationship Director in Retail and Wholesale Corporate Banking team. Her previous role involved driving delivery of our Citizenship strategy, ensuring execution of the plan and to increase colleague engagement.
