This guide details the most common issues found when using BARX Corporate.
Please contact the BARX Corporate Client Services Team on 08457 231200* (or email barxcorporate@barcap.com) to issue a new/replacement certificate.
a. Please ensure that your Digital Certificate has been downloaded correctly by opening Internet Explorer and selecting Tools / Internet Options / Content / Certificates - there should only be one certificate issued for each user by 'Barclays Capital Customer Browser CA (2)'.
If more than one certificate is found, delete the certificate(s) with the earliest expiry date(s). To do this, you must access the Certificate Store within Internet Explorer. Go to Tools / Internet Options / Content / Certificates. Your old certificate will be stored within the 'Personal' tab within 'Certificates', highlight this and click on 'remove' to delete the old certificate.
b. Please ensure that your username is in lower case, and that there are no spaces either at the beginning or end.
Java is not installed on your computer. Download and install the recommended version of Java. Access the latest version of Java (version 7). You can update to Java version 7 here^ (opens in a new window). Consult your local IT support desk if you don't have administrator rights to install software.
This indicates that your proxy server is requesting authentication to download/launch BARX Corporate. Please enter your own network internet authentication username and password, NOT your BARX Corporate username and password. Consult your local IT support desk for assistance if necessary.
This indicates there is a proxy server configuration issue in Java.
If using Java 1.4.2, go to Start – Run… type in javaws , click OK , and this will open up the Java Application Manager. Click File - Preferences and adjust proxies to your network requirements.
If using Java 1.5/1.6, click Start – Settings - Control Panel, click on the Java icon, and click on Network Settings and adjust proxies to your network requirements. If this still doesn't work, please check with your IT support that .jnlp and .jar files can be downloaded through your firewall.
Depending on the version of Java installed on your computer, the next steps are either:
Java 1.4.2
Go to Start – Run…Type in javaws , click OK , and this will open up the Java Web Start application Manager. Highlight the BARX Corporate Live icon, then click on the application menu and select Create Shortcuts.
Java 1.5/1.6
Click Start – Settings - Control Panel, click on the Java icon, and this will open up the Java Control Panel.
If using Java 1.5, click Settings – View Applications.
If you are using Java 1.6, click View, to open the Java Application Cache Viewer. Then right-click on the BARX Corporate Live icon in the downloaded applications box and click Install Shortcuts.
Click on the link 'Internet Settings' within the error message or from the login box, select Options, then Change Internet Options, click Go and then Detect Proxy
Address - Must be the IP Address or name of your Proxy Server (Please check with your IT Department)
Port – Usually 8080, but please confirm with your IT Department
UserID - Must be the Users Internet and/or PC ID
Password - Must be the Users Internet and/or PC password
NB - Sometimes only the Address/Port are needed and sometimes only UserID/Password
After typing your password, BARX Corporate ‘hangs’ with the login box highlighted. This suggests that the Digital certificate has lost its Private Key.
To check, go to Tools / Internet Options / Content / Certificates. Highlight your certificate, click ‘export’, then ‘next’ on the Export Wizard. If the 'Yes, export the private key' radio button cannot be selected, please remove the certificate, and contact the BARX Corporate Helpdesk to arrange for a new one to be issued.
Check Certificate store in Internet Explorer via Tools / Internet Options / Content / Certificates - there should be only one issued for you by Barclays Capital Customer Browser CA (2). If more than one certificate is found, delete the certificate(s) with the earliest expiry date(s).
