- The Welsh Rugby Union Limited (WRU) – rugby is the national game of Wales. The WRU have been customers of Barclays for well over 50 years and Barclays helped to finance the building of the Millennium Stadium which has a capacity of over 72,000 and a retractable roof. It was completed to host the Rugby World Cup which was held in Wales in 1999. Teamwork has long been part of Barclays success in Wales and the Wales rugby team have certainly seen much success on the pitch during the last few years
Meet our Welsh regional team
Ray O’Donoghue, Managing Director
Ray joined Barclays in 1980, initially working in the Midlands before moving to the London, Spain, Gibraltar and Shrewsbury offices. He returned to the Midlands in 1998 to set up the Corporate Banking Team and became the regional Managing Director in 2008. Two years later, Ray also took on responsibility for Wales and the South West. Ray is married with two children and enjoys watching and playing sports.
