Installation & Activation

Before you begin

In order to access Business Internet Banking (BIB) you must be in possession of:

  1. A PIN pad smart card reader – to attach to the computer from which you want to access BIB
  2. Your smart card – which must have been activated
  3. Your Temporary PIN – which each user will receive in the post
  4. The eSigner software – which must be installed on the computer from which you want to access BIB. You will also need to install the latest drivers – please refer to the information included with your reader

As Citrix installations are treated as bespoke installations they are not covered by these instructions. For help and advice on the suitability of individual Citrix environments please call the Business Internet Banking helpdesk on 0845 600 8818* (outside the UK: +44 207 757 7308).

Step 1  - Connecting your PIN pad smart card reader

  • Attach the USB connector from the PIN pad smart card reader to a spare USB port (as shown in the images below)

Important: If Windows displays a message saying that it has found new hardware, press <cancel> to skip the driver installations at this stage

  • Continue to install the eSigner software as per instructions in Step 2 - Installation of eSigner security software.

Step 2  - Installation of eSigner security software

The software should be installed by a user with the appropriate permission to install software e.g. with administration privileges.
Please Note: We recommend that you run a virus check prior to installing it.

Windows Installation

  • Close all other programs and applications before starting the installation and then connect your card reader (if you have not done so already) as per Step 1 above
  • Place the CD into your computer and (if your computer is configured to ‘autorun’ a CD), the installation wizard will start automatically
      
    If you are installing from a Network drive, double click on setup.exe
     
    If the installation wizard does not start automatically -
     
    • In Windows, navigate to Start and Run. In the Run dialogue box type in d:Setup (If d: is your CD Rom drive)
       
    • This will open the install CD Software, double click on the Setup.exe to start installing the software and when the wizard begins, follow the prompts on screen
       
  • Ensure there is no card in any attached reader and follow all of the prompts on screen, selecting the default options where appropriate and accepting the terms and conditions
      
    If you are a Microsoft Vista or Windows 7 user you will be prompted to add the Barclays URLs to your Trusted Sites. These must be added in order to gain access to Business Internet Banking. Further details are available on the Trusted Sites.txt file on the eSigner CD.
        
    Windows Vista compatible versions of the eSigner security software are version 3.0.4 or higher. Windows 7 compatible versions of the eSigner software are version 4.0.0 or higher. If you require a Microsoft Vista or Windows 7 compatible version of eSigner please call the Business Internet Banking helpdesk on 0845 600 8818* (outside the UK: +44 207 757 7308).
      
  • At the end of the installation you will be promoted to re-start Windows to complete the installation. Before doing so, please ensure you have also downloaded the drivers from www.barclays.com/pinpaddrivers and save any data before re-starting Windows.

Mac Installation

  • Please contact the BIB Help Desk for the latest Mac software
  • Close all other programs and applications before starting the installation and then connect your card reader (if you have not done so already) as per Step 1 above
  • Once the software is downloaded select the folder, then choose Esigner_package and follow the on-screen prompts. A reboot may be required after installation
  • Please ensure you have also downloaded the drivers from www.barclays.com/pinpaddrivers before using your reader.

Step 3 - Smart Card Activation

Support Material

As soon as you have successfully logged in to BIB, you will be able to access information on how to set up Users within your organisation as well as day to day support for the service.

Following successful activation, Users will be able to view support material to help with making payments, transfers, importing and exporting transaction information.

To access this material, you and the Users within the organisation will need to Login to BIB and select the 'Support Material' tab at the top of the BIB Welcome page.
